    Lena Frölander-Ulf (b. 1976) is a Helsinki-based writer and illustrator of children's books. She writes in Swedish mostly and in Finnish sometimes. Her latest book "Jag, Fidel och skogen" / "Minä, Muru ja metsä" (S&S 2016) has been nominated for three different awards; the Toisinkoinen 2016, Finlandia Junior 2016 and Runeberg Junior 2017. She has participated in several exhibitions, in Finland and abroad.


    Lena also works as a graphic designer, specializing in illustration, book covers, logos and ornaments. She is a member of the Finnish illustrators' association Kuvittajat, The Nordic Watercolour Association, Fibul r.f. and the writers´ association Finlands Svenska Författareförening.

    The second part of the Fidel trilogy is in progress. To be released in 2018.


    There is also a chapter book and some small texts slowly working their way towards publication.

    Teater Tapir

    Lena is also a founding member of the theatre group Teater Tapir. In 2016 they tour with a play for 3–6 year olds, written by Annika Sandelin who is also playing the lead role of the ant artist Myrabell. For more information, visit their Facebook site.


    The BY-project

    "The exhibition, aiming at a playful dialogue with the visitor, highlights nine Finnish illustrators. In BY, the visitor may step into the world of Finnish illustration at its best!" From Elverket in Ekenäs, Finland, via the Frankfurt Bookfair, Umeå and Ronneby in Sweden, and back to Finland for Helsinki, Oulu, Vaasa and Jakobstad.
